Knight-Incantor Averon Stormsire was chosen personally by the God-King Sigmar to investigate the curse of Shadespire, for the irascible mage’s knowledge of unbinding and banishment is extraordinarily comprehensive. Stormsire has long studied the negative effects of the reforging process, and his grim demeanour has only grown more intense as the troubling implications become clearer.
Alongside his two loyal companions, Rastus and Ammis, Stormsire walks the halls of the Mirrored City, searching for answers and a way to free Shadespire from the Great Necromancer’s dark enchantment. Any who come between this formidable trio and their goal are eradicated with crackling bolts of lightning or swept aside with fulminating blasts of energy.
Miniature Review
I'm not the biggest fan of Stormcast Eternals, but I really wanted to get into Underworlds so picked up the season 2 box when it first came out. Having recently painted some of the Kruleboyz warbands I thought I should go back and paint up the older warbands I had.
The newer sculpts are much better scaled in my opinion, with these older style Stormcast Eternals being much chunkier with a more squat feel. The leader Averon Stormsire looks extra squat due to his pose and his massive gloves. However, despite that he's my favorite sculpt of the three as I prefer the helmless look and the pose is really open. As for the others I really like the flowing robes, but I'm not the biggest fam of the helms or the weapons.

As I've always got so much to paint I wanted to get these guys finished fairly quickly, but I still wanted them to look good. To achieve this I relied fairly heavily on washes for the gold armour, while focusing on lots of rough layers for the robes to somewhat replicate a fabric texture effect.
These two textures make up most of the miniatures, so I was able to use a minimal number of paints for the remaining areas as they don't draw too much attention. Overall I'm pretty happy with the colorscheme. I could maybe glaze the robes a little more to smooth them out, but other than that I'm super happy for the result based on the time spent!
